There, despite my constant complains about everything, I decided to pack everything up and put it out.
Do note that although it’s completely translated into English, the editing is incomplete, and the efforts invested in this game vary. It’s clearly not a proper “release”, but more of a “giving up” on finishing this. This is a decision made at the end of October after roughly 2 months of stagnation, when it has became clear that this project will not be going anywhere.
Due to the substandard quality, it’s advised that those who will feel infuriated by bad English should avoid this. For quality reference, I’d say the unedited portion is it’s at the same level as Sono Hanabira 3 and 5, if you’d read that, you’ll be fine. Even though we’re unable to finish this to the end, I still hope that some of you can be able to enjoy it, or at least enjoy parts of it.

Instructions on how to install
0. Install the game, you don’t have to download the update from the official website, it’s already included.
New update01 Get this update01 if you’d downloaded an older version than version 0.81 of the translation patch. This fixes instances of voice not matching to text. Just replace it inside your ikikoi folder. Ignore this line if this is your first time downloading.
No-dvd. If needed.
1. Download this which consist of the patch and custom font. Install the font into your computer. (updated November 25th, will update again if anything game breaking occurs or enough substantial corrections is received.)
2.Extract the stuff inside the patch folder shown below into your ikikoi folder.
3. Run cs2.exe in your ikikoi folder, and reach out for this menu (if you don’t own a mouse, pressing alt+C twice will make the menu appear). Go to the フォント(font) tab and select Ikikoi Custom Font.
4.Done
How to tell if you fucked up?
If you, for some reason didn’t follow the instructions, this will happen. You don’t want this to happen.

Q: Is there a good story, preferably one that includes blood and explosions?
A: No, this is a comedy oriented moege. It’s catered to an M audience, the protagonist get abused by tsunderes all the time, pretty much a hit and miss for people depending on their preference.
Q: Help, my game running at 1fps.
A:This is a problem that occurs on the original game as well. Unfortunately, I have no clue at to why it happens, and I wasn’t able to recreate it either. But its been reported by people who had this problem that restarting the computer works. If not, uninstalling first, rebooting(or log off user then login?) then reinstall works. After narrowing things down, I assume the “trick” to this is only restarting the computer instead of reinstalling. No other “tweaking” other than a restart/reboot proves to work. Some reported success on the first restart, some reported success on the third restart.
There are those who cant get it fixed regardless either, hopefully someone finds out what causes this.
Asides from that, keep it installed inside your computer. Maybe one day you’ll click it and it decides to stop breaking.

A:Get the latest version of the patch here. This generally happens if you got your patch elsewhere.
Q: This cursor SUCKS / How do I switch resolution?

This will force the game to use the custom font. Only do this after you installed the custom font included in the patch.

A:Yeah, the game uses the same engine as Grisaia. So you can install GrisaiaCustom.tff that’s used in the Grisaia translation project and you’ll see a choice to choose GrisaiaCustom in the font selection drop down.

The extent of work you feel you can put in can only be determined after you personally evaluate the lines to a substantial level. You shouldn’t make a decision without knowing what you’re going into or how much you can contribute.
And working on the lines to the extent of “editing” isn’t really anything close to “good experience” either. It’s more like “voluntary suffering”.
This is more for your own sake, read through it until the point where you can’t handle it anymore. Both the game itself and the translation quality will influence your decision greatly.

When I go through this, I’ll try to spot all the typos/grammar errors and send them to you. If you plan to make another patch, I’ll definitely do this. If not, I think my efforts would be in vain. Do you see yourself making an updated patch if you get enough corrections?

No, you don’t need to apply any patch at all. Everything that’s updated is included in the english patch.

Do I need to switch to unicode Japanese?
Because I’m using applocal and the font menu is completely blank, can’t select anything, while the writings in the menu is in proper Japanese, the title of the VN itself is a mess of characters.
When I don’t use applocal the game just flat out refuse to even open too.

For some weird reason, the VN is being slow and I have no idea why.. For one, I never expected that one day VNs will run slow on my laptop and my config isn’t that bad either.. Any idea why?
This happens to some for some reason and there really isnt any sure fix that I know of. Someone I know tried one day after by uninstalling, restart the computer and reinstall it, and it somehow worked.

Same thing here. The game will run fine, then I’ll do something else for a few hours, launch the game again and it will run at less than 1 fps. In my case I can fix it by closing my Windows session -> logging back in (or just a plain reboot). I can’t figure out why it happens though, my computer is quite powerful and there doesn’t seem to be any memory leak.
That’s on Windows 8 64-bit, japanese locale.
Well, restarting and installing worked.. I just hope, I don’t have to keep logging off and on, frequently..

Only change the resolution. All those commands are the engine commands, many are not relevant or used. Many already included in the game options. But yeah, you have a point, here’s how to do the resolution, I updated the release post on the very bottom.
I also have a problem.
When I start my Ikikoi I get sever lag it takes about 5-10 seconds and sometimes even longer when I try to click on stuff either the start button or options or just to advance the text, I’ve tried installing/uninstalling and rebooting my computer several times and the problem seems to always be there, if anyone got any advice I’d love to hear them.
It’s a problem that happens to some, which is caused by the original game. I have no idea why or what cause this to happen. But someone I know end up having it working after trying to install it again day or two later.
It’s unfortunate that you guys have to end the project like this. I was looking forward to Ikikoi (mainly because it has the setting as Supreme Candy). Still, I’ve read your blog for a long time and I think you’re a rational person. So this decision must be best for both the project and us the readers. Congrats for finishing this!

By apply the patch, do you mean just install the patch, and drag the config, fes, image, scene, update00.int, and update001.int into the ikikoi folder, as well as installing the font? I did that, and yet I still can’t see the menu in step 3. I’ve tried alt+c a lot. I put in a 100% save data to see if that helped, for some reason, but nope. So I’ve been trying to install this game for 2 days now not being able to get past the 1 fps.
I have tried everything I could think of which is: Rebooting computer and installing, changing user and installing, Installing in different places and folders, Changing how many cores the game runs on, Changing to windows 98 etc, Running as Administrator….etc etc etc, I guess just waiting for someone to figure this out is the only possible solution for now.
Just to let people know what I’ve tried that hasn’t helped.
I have now also tried leaving the game installed and rebooting my computer about 5 times and no success.
Do you by chance have a walkthrough? If not, it’s not a big deal. I’ll wait for someone to make a walkthrough.

They’re kinda easy. The first options don’t matter — they give you small scenes which might be fun to read — but the second option puts you into a branch.
If you want to get into Ryou/Eika’s routes, click Ryou (or was it Eika?).
If you want to get into Tane/Tsumugu’s routes, click Tsumugu.
At the end of these branching routes, click ur favorite gurl.
Its a hit and miss for people. If you don’t like tsundere, don’t have to force yourself.

That error says “you need to insert the original disk”. You need to get a no-dvd. So many people keep asking this so I included in the FAQ.

I never heard anyone have that error before. Can you provide a screenshot. I also advise that you ask this at the fuwanovel forums help thread instead of here, since I -think- they have their own specific process on making it work.

I’m guessing that the editors aren’t satisfied with their use of “midnight snack” and thus they say the editing sucks from Tsumugu/Tane route split onwards.

If your update01.int is actually an update01.int from my site, I have no idea why it wouldn’t detect it. It might be something related to admin permissions.

Finished the entire VN. to put it in one word: empty. yes, that’s what I feel right now, empty. Empty in the sense of “Man, its over. Now what?”. Very few VNs made me feel like shit.
So many inconsistencies with common route. Most glaring would be Tsumugu being indifferent in common route despite what happened in her past.
And I haven’t seen enough of Tsumugu. Why must her route be so short?

about the 1fps problem:
this is just a guess, but anybody had this problem in win7? or are all the fps problems rooted in winxp?
next is: do you use USB kbd/mouse/headset? moreso if they’re wireless?
I remember having this problem back in majikoi A, in winXP, with a wireless headset (specifically it was Corsair Vengeance 2000). removing it made Majikoi A stable. Or migrating to win7. Just throwing stupid ideas here.
I have this problem in windows 7 and I got no wireless stuff I’ve also tried pretty much everything and nothing works so far.
I am also having problems 1 fps in windows 7, and when I unplug my mouse, its fps go up slightly (but still lag), maybe the problem is my nvidia graphics configuration is not compatible with this game, still waiting for the answer to fix the problem.

also about installing the font, you may want to just go to c:\windows\fonts\ and copy-paste the ikikoi custom font there.
I already put the font in there it wont allow me to select it in the game though, cant even get the menu bar to appear, also tried the work around that was posted on here that says to add the setup.xml to save area and that still didnt work!
nvm figured out the problem was using the entire version .81 folder instead of taking individual parts out and putting them in game folder by themselves. problem solved

This really sounds like more of an OS problem. I can’t really think of anything (on the fly) aside from maybe anti-virus.

3. you should be able to play without 1503 error ^.^
I’m gonna take a blind shot here and say you have a problem somewhere in your W7. if you don’t want to reformat, then:
1. get oracle VM
2. setup your “virtual” machine there. say, 512mb ram + 64mb video ram + 1 core processor.
3. install winXP there.
4. install ikikoi (follow instructions above)

Thank you very much for translating it! I’ve been having a problem though. Right after I choose to not go shopping with tsugumu it says “c2.exe has stopped working.” It happens at the same spot every time.

ok, that’s very weird. and I assume more bugs will appear to you even after you get a save. I can only suggest to *properly* place all patch files to where they should, overwriting old files.
You’re probably right about the save. I’m trying a fresh install, I tried to go a different route and that crashed as well. I extract the the patch into the ikikoi folder, maybe I didn’t do it right like you suggest.
I did a new install and it still stops. Cs2.exe stopped after choosing not to go with her after the line: “Forcing me to carry those bags? That doesn’t sound very motivating”. I decided to see if the other choice worked. Choosing to go with her it stops after the line: “Well, sorry for not understanding a girl’s heart… Can’t your Way of the Maid do something about it?”
I’m going to see if the other 2 routes crash. Maybe it’s my computer should I try installing on another computer?

you’re basically playing the game without any translation.
Follow the instructions and copy paste the files of the translation patch properly.
Just reached 100%, pretty fun, I only ran into one issue where a line was untranslated, but apart from that everything worked fine. Have to say, Tane would be my favorite route. Tane > Tsumugu > Eika > Ryou. Ryou was way to heavy in the S&M for me to truly enjoy it.

For those having issues with 1fps- The only real way I figured out to fix the issue was to either
1. Run on a different computer
2. Run windows in a virtual machine with direct3d support and play the VN from there

Hey guys, about that 1fps issue. I was able to get the game to run in a virtual machine running windows 7 with direct3d support. If you really want to play try that.
I am having this problem where the menu is in Japanese, the setting is in Japanese, the story is in English but the name of the characters are in Japanese. I could possibly play through this if their names being in Japanese didn’t bother me so much

If you copied the setup.xml AND manually installed the font given in the patch. Then your font should be set. Just forget about the menu bar.

Strange, as mentioned a while ago on this page, when I unplug my input devices (mouse, keyboard, xbox controller) the fps jumps up to 7.. making it slightly more possible to play. I’ll try to get to the bottom of this.
And after a few days, when I open it now I have 60 fps.. WTF? So weird.
So I figured out that after plugging in my USB DDR pad the game starts working properly at 60 fps. If I unplug it, 1 fps. わかりません。。
You f*ck*ng kidding me? At last solved for me.. I had this VN a year+ ago with W7, working fine.. but when I installed 8.1 I had 1 fps. After reading this (again) I tried to plug my WPad and there you go, 60fps. I always had that thing plugged but after 8.1 I just stopped using it anymore. Hope this helps anyone who still have this novel in a corner like a corpse.

Hey, I think I’ve found a problem that hasn’t been addressed. I’m going through Tsumugu’s route, and it appears as though scenes from other routes are suddenly just popping up in certain points. Like it would transition to the scene where Tane meets Ryou for the first time/volunteers to be the PV model, then another morning Tsumugu scene, and then all of a sudden I’m in Ryou’s route when the protag was a shithead kid, complete with a decision choice from the route.
Did this come up at all before? Or have I stumbled onto a new, mysterious bug?
I never heard anything like this. It sounds like your exe or script order got messed up somehow in the installation…
I went back to a save before I made any choices and seemed to get through it alright, Tane scenes seemed to overlap a bit but nothing too major, didn’t have any shifts to Ryou or Elka sceces. Maybe I hit some sort of weird combination of decisions that made everything go out of order? Just thought I’d point it out, really odd that one minute it’s pillow-hugging, then another its Tane talking about clean shoes, and then badass grandpa and past-Ryou pop out of nowhere.
After reading all these comments, does this mean that a version 2 of the patch is coming?

I’ve got a temporary solution for those who have the “1fps bug”.
Simply by plugging in an Xbox 360 pad, the game is at 60 fps.
(I’m using windows 8 and my setup is i5-4200M, GTX 760M, 8gb ram)

How did you go about finding which script covers which part of the game and counting the lines of the script’s I’ve tried everything with no success
This is really holding me back everything else is already done, extraction and reinsertion for both scripts and images works.
Because the scripter in Makura categorized them well and easy to understand. Common01, route01 02 etc. If your game happens to have hard to categorize scripts, just open the game and when the script ends, just do a mass txt file search for that particular Japanese line that appears after.

Reread step 1. You didn’t install the font. Double click the font in the patch folder and install it.

If by “patch folder” you mean the folder with config, fes, image, scene, and the 2 updates, then I don’t see a font in there. I extracted everything in that folder into my ikikoi folder, and it seems to have done nothing.
You will have it if you download from the link in step 1 and extract it. Check properly.
What is the exact name of the file? That would help.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled this shit 3 times already, following your instructions. Extracted the patch folder contents from that link you provided into my ikikoi folder, but I see no “patch” for me to install.
I see 4 folders and 2 updates in INT format. The patch is not in any of those 4 folders either as far as i’m aware.
This isn’t the first vn I’ve downloaded, so i’m familiar with the process, but there’s just something missing here.

Please, first off it’s a font file, not a patch. And re-installing the game doesn’t do anything because you need to install the font, not the game. If you’re still unable to understand, .tff files are font files. You double click it and install it into your computer.
I only uninstalled and reinstalled because I believe the file was corrupted, and some people were saying it worked after doing that.
Secondly, as a matter of fact, it’s not literally right there. it’s not even the same file. I double clicked it and it did not do any sort of installation process. only a word pad popped up with the words “the quick brown fox jumped over the fence” or something like that repeated over and over.
The filename is the same, but the file size is completely different.
Do I need to open it with a specific program?
It automatically opens with Windows Font Viewer, and that’s about it.
I apologize if it sounded like I was angry, It’s really frustrating when you try every possible solution you can find only to get the same result.

Yeah, that’s where the problem is. There wasn’t an install button at the top next to print. I tried copying and pasting it into C:/Windows/Fonts, but it still didn’t help. Tried opening it from in that directory and from ikikoi folder.
Ok, scratch that. I found an alternative way to install the font. It now shows up in the game. I selected the custom font in the drop down menu, and applied it, but everything is still in Japanese. Restarted the game, the custom font was still selected but it was still in Japanese.
Your text in game not being translated has got nothing to do with the font. The font is ensuring that your translated text appears at the ideal size and shape. Please ensure that you copy pasted the correct files into the right place. Your ikikoi folder should look something like this: http://puu.sh/84tae.png
The highlighted ones being the files inside the patch folder downloaded. I doubt you would fuck up something so simple, so honestly, I have no idea. I can only give you some guesses:
1)Install in the default drive (usually C:)
2)Don’t use the fuwanovel prepatched version. Install normally.

I didn’t fuck anything up. All the files are in the right place, like I said. This is the only vn i’m having issues with, and I honestly have no fucking clue what the deal is. I was using the fuwanovel prepatched version, but didn’t see anything in your instructions saying your patch wouldn’t work with it. So if that’s the reason it’s not working, then the only conclusion I can reach is there was a communication error.

You use a fuwanovel modified version, so please seek help from fuwanovel themselves. I’m not the one who made the prepatched version and naturally I’m not familiar with it. I only can help whoever installs it NORMALLY. I only provide the tl patch, not the game, you know.

i noticed that the minor male (i.e the delinquents) and background characters (i.e boy ) dont have voices but the girls (even the background girls ) have voices..
is it me fucking up the patch or is it like that in the original game???
